Moody Student Center

Our Moody Student Center building is sort of a one-stop shop for the things our students might need on a daily basis. Moody houses our cafeteria, bookstore, post office, the POD (Provisions on Demand – a snack shop), and Residence Life staff members occupy the second floor. Our campus police office is located downstairs where, yes, you’ll also find a bowling alley!

The HSU Basement is located in Moody Center and is designed to provide students with a fun and relaxing place to hang out. We feature several different activities for students including, five different video game stations with over fifty games to choose from; two pool tables; a ping-pong table; and a large lounge area with a big screen TV to watch local channels or movies. Located in The Basement is also the university bowling alley which is open to all students, faculty, and staff. Our newest activity is campus golf where students can check out a map, golf clubs, and tennis balls to go around the whole campus trying their skill on eighteen holes of challenging fun. Along with all the fun and games that we provide, the Basement is also equipped with a computer lab that is open later than most on campus.

The Basement strives to provide a welcoming environment for students to enjoy a fun and relaxing time with their friends. Throughout the semester we host several different activities sponsored by the Basement. Some of these events will include pool tournaments, video game tournaments and game nights. The Basement is also available to reserve for private parties.

  • The Basement is free to use for all HSU students with a valid HSU ID Card. If you are an HSU student with a valid HSU ID Card, you can bring up to three non-HSU friends/family to the Basement with you. If you want to bring more friends to the Basement, then you are required to reserve the Basement for a party.
  • The Basement is free for all HSU Faculty and Staff and their immediate families. You must present your HSU ID Card, or your faculty/staff facilities pass issued by the HSU Facilities office at the time of visit. Your child can come to the Basement without you if they have your HSU ID Card or faculty/staff facilities pass at time of visit.
