At Hardin-Simmons University, Spiritual Formation exists to walk alongside students as they grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Our desire is to create opportunities for students to behold Jesus, become like Him, and be bold with His love — from our campus to our city and to the nations. We believe spiritual growth is more than a moment or a program; it is a lifelong journey of transformation through Scripture, prayer, Christian community, and the work of the Holy Spirit.
Through worship, discipleship, service, and meaningful connection with the local church, we seek to cultivate a campus culture centered on prayer, worship, and authentic faith. We want the Office of Spiritual Formation to be a place where students, faculty, and staff are encouraged in their walk with Christ, discover their identity and purpose in Him, and are equipped to live courageously as servant leaders and witnesses of His love wherever God calls them.

Baptist Student Ministry
The HSU Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) exists to minister to the spiritual needs of the students and to equip them for ministry in their daily lives. Through discipleship in community, we strive to help students deepen their relationship with Christ and make disciples of all nations. We are called to love, serve, and to walk alongside students during their time at HSU.
Chapel
Chapel services are held on Tuesday & Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m. throughout the fall and spring semesters (unless otherwise noted). All students who attend chapel can expect diversity in music and in shared experience of the gospel message. It is our hope that all students will uncover, through their chapel experience, faith that has been grown or discovered. It is our expectation that, through chapel, students will understand that the gospel is not just the ticket that got you in, it is also what sustains your life.
Tuesday chapel services are also streamed live and past services can be viewed on the HSU YouTube Channel.
Worship Opportunities
In addition to our regular chapel services, HSU provides additional opportunities to worship during Christian holidays and at other special times. Worship teams are organized and arranged through our School of Music. Interested musicians and singers are always encouraged to help us praise God!
LiveSent
LiveSent is a mission initiative calling our university community to live as ambassadors of Christ — sent into the world to reflect His love, serve others, and proclaim the Gospel. It’s more than a trip; it’s a lifestyle of being sent, just as Jesus was sent by the Father.
Serve Like Simmons
Serve Like Simmons is a biannual, campus-wide day of service at Hardin-Simmons University. Students, Faculty, Staff, and Alumni gather to serve local organizations in our community.
