Spiritual Life
Our mission is to ensure that we walk alongside our students as they do life at Hardin-Simmons University. We offer a plentiful campus ministry, so that each student has the opportunity for spiritual formation while they are at HSU. It is our desire to engage students spiritually and emotionally.
We want the office of Chapel & Spiritual Formation at HSU to be a place where students, faculty, and staff are supported in their ongoing formational development. Whether you are celebrating or struggling with depression, grief, or something else we would love the opportunity to join with you on your faith journey.

Dr. Travis Craver, Director of Chapel and Spiritual Formation
"My primary objective as Director of Chapel and Spiritual Formation is to engage staff and students in positive reflection, learning, and development of their Christian faith through a combination of formal and informal teaching and learning opportunities. My role is a crucial one in terms of setting and overseeing the spiritual tone within the school. I am responsible for actively engaging students and staff in developing the Christ-centered culture of the school that is the Hardin-Simmons University education enlightened by Christian faith and values."

Talk to Someone
At Hardin-Simmons, you’ll hear “the HSU family” frequently from students and staff members. We’re always here to help, and sometimes that means just listening.
If you need to talk about something important, email Dr. Travis Craver:

Baptist Student Ministry
The HSU Baptist Student Ministry exists to minister to the spiritual needs of the students of Hardin-Simmons University. We seek to provide a context for spiritual engagement, formation, and renewal with the hope that all HSU students might have a fully developed relationship with Jesus Christ. We are called to love, to serve, and to walk alongside students during their time at HSU. Students from all denominations and faiths are welcome in the BSM.

"Looking back, I see how much I changed and grew each year during my time at HSU. It was a blessing to talk about my faith openly and to be around other students, faculty, and staff who did the same."

Chapel
Chapel is held Tuesdays in Behrens Auditorium at 9:30 a.m. All students who attend chapel can expect diversity in music and in shared experience of the gospel message. It is our hope that all students will uncover, through their chapel experience, faith that has been grown or discovered. It is our expectation that, through chapel, students will understand that the gospel is not just the ticket that got you in, it is also what sustains your life.
Chapel services are also streamed live and past services can be viewed on the HSU YouTube Channel.

Worship Opportunities
In addition to our regular chapel services, HSU provides additional opportunities to worship during Christian holidays and at other special times. Worship teams are organized and arranged through our School of Music. Interested musicians and singers are always encouraged to help us praise God!
