"Out of all the four-year universities that I considered, Hardin-Simmons offered me the best financial support. I was given a scholarship specifically for transfer students, and I also earned the Dean’s Scholarship."

I moved from Mexico to the United States when I was eight years old, and when I graduated from high school, I went to a junior college. Out of all the four-year universities that I considered, Hardin-Simmons offered me the best financial support. I was given a scholarship specifically for transfer students, and I also earned the Dean’s Scholarship.

After going through my financial aid package, I found out that I only needed to pay $36 for tuition. As the first person in my family to attend college, that news was a dream come true. I didn’t have to worry about getting loans or graduating with debt. It was such a blessing.

Once I decided to receive that blessing and come to Hardin-Simmons, I was given the opportunity to work in the print shop as a student worker. The money I earned from this job helped me pay for my books each semester. After that, I was transferred to the Marketing department, which gave me experience in my major, before I even graduated.

During my senior year, I was offered a full-time position in the Marketing Department as the project coordinator. As a full-time employee, all of my tuition was covered. This position made up for the scholarships which I would lose after one year.

Hardin-Simmons has poured into me financially and academically, and also spiritually. My professors don’t just teach content; they also teach from a faith perspective. The faculty and staff truly believe that their students can take that next step and become something more.

I also love the beautiful campus atmosphere. I like to sit outside by the pond in the early morning and enjoy the refreshing feeling of nature. I can feel God’s presence on this campus.

I know that God had a plan for me to come to Hardin-Simmons. This university has become a very important part of my life and given me so many opportunities to work, learn, and grow.
