Pray. Give. Prepare. Learn.

July 11, 2025

As we navigate the weeks ahead, we remind our Hardin-Simmons family to keep in their thoughts and prayers those who the recent flooding has impacted. From Kerr County to Tom Green County to other regions across the country, the devastation is widespread.

In times like these, we stand together as Christians, pointing others to hope and providing meaningful assistance when and where it is needed, whether through prayer, raising awareness, or mobilizing when the time is right.

Here’s how each of us can contribute to healing and recovery:

Pray. Give. Prepare. Learn.

Pray:  Pray for individuals, families, and entire communities navigating loss and uncertainty. Ask for God’s comfort, protection, healing, and restoration. Disaster recovery is often long-term—your prayers matter now and in the months to come.

Give: Monetary gifts are among the most effective ways to provide immediate assistance. We encourage you to do your research and support trusted partners. Here are two recommendations:

Prepare: Do you have a desire to be more hands-on? Consider training to become a disaster response volunteer. Invest in learning valuable skills, knowledge, and protocol so that agencies can deploy you to help when disaster strikes.

Learn: Follow news coverage and take time to learn what the needs are. Responders will be quick to share what is needed and what is not needed. Again, be sure to do your research. Don’t show up to volunteer uninvited, as your presence may interfere with recovery efforts and distract responders. Texans on Mission has great assistance.
