    • Hannah VanHousen - President
My name is Hannah VanHousen and I am so excited to have the opportunity to serve as President for the Social Work Club! I am a senior social work major from North Richland Hills, Texas. I transferred here from a small Christian college in Dallas after my Freshman year, hoping that Hardin-Simmons would be a better fit for me, and it definitely is. Coming to Hardin-Simmons, I thought I would be pursuing a psychology degree, but God had other plans for me and led me to the Social Work department where I found my passion. I am involved on campus and in my community as a part of a home team through Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, a volunteer at Pregnancy Resources of Abilene, Sigma Beta Chapter of Phi Alpha Honor Society for Social Work, and an active member of the on campus women's social club Alpha Iota Omega. I can't wait to see how God uses the Social Work Club this year to bless and serve Hardin-Simmons as well as the community.
    • Morgan Culpepper - Vice President
Morgan CulpepperMy name is Morgan Culpepper and I am thrilled to serve my fellow students as Vice President for the Social Work Club! I attended high school in Abilene, but was blessed to live in various states and countries growing up. I am a junior at HSU and am pursuing my passion to help others by being a Social Work major! I am excited and open to whatever the Lord will lead me to with Social Work, because I know no matter what I will be making a difference. Along with Social Work Club, I also serve as a Resident’s Assistant in Blanche Lange with second year students and enjoy being involved on campus. In the community, I attend Broadview Baptist Church and volunteer with the youth ministry. I can’t wait to be more involved with the Social Work Club and see the amazing things God does with our group!

    • Emily (Fitzhugh) Gurley - Chaplain
Emily GurleyMy name is Emily (Fitzhugh) Gurley and I am so excited to have the opportunity to serve as Chaplain for the Social Work Club! I am a senior Social Work major and Leadership minor from Abilene, Texas. My family has a long history at Hardin-Simmons so I grew up coming to campus and knowing its mission. When it came time to select a college, I knew Hardin-Simmons would fit me perfectly. I love Hardin-Simmons and the caring connections with professors and students. I have developed a passion for serving people through my future profession. My Leadership Studies complement my social work program because I have the confidence to organize, advocate, and persuade others to "be the change" we want to see in the world. Also at HSU, I met, dated, and married my sweet husband, Tyler. I would not trade the memories I have made at HSU for anything. My volunteer experience includes serving as a “Big” for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, advocating for Noah Project, and serving on Mission Teams in Ecuador, Ireland, and inner city Dallas. I am an active member at Beltway Park Church, where I volunteer with the middle school youth. Professionally, I am interested in working with children and families and I am very passionate about helping at-risk children through social work in the schools or in the foster care system. I am excited about working with others who share my passion for this field through the Social Work Club.
