What I Love About HSU

February 23, 2023 Charis Ochu

Charis Ochu is a sophomore at Hardin-Simmons University. She majors in biology and is active across the campus, including working as a student writer for the marketing department.

The season of love is upon us! In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, I would like to share the top five things I love about Hardin-Simmons University.

1.The Reflection Pond

The pond serves as a great spot to simply catch my breath and relax. Seeing Gilbert is also a plus!

2. The second floor of the Richardson Library, especially the egg chair section

It is a quiet and cozy space for studying (or even taking a nap).

3. Mentorship opportunities

At HSU, students can easily approach professors whenever they experience any difficulties in the course or if they just want to have a conversation. I am so grateful for the relationships that HSU has helped me build with amazing professors on campus.

4. The Campus Community

Student groups, such as SABERS and Res life, organize many fun activities throughout the semester to create a vibrant atmosphere and encourage social interactions on campus. To find out about upcoming events planned by SABERS, click here.

5. Career Services

Career Services is a priceless department provided for students. They host several events throughout the school year to provide students with the opportunity to connect with HSU alumni and employers. This office also organizes events to teach students useful tools for advancing in a professional environment. Myles Lofland, Director of Career Services, is always enthusiastic about speaking to students on any career-related topics. You can always find him at Moody 2nd floor which is where his office is. To stay in the loop, follow them on Instagram.
