24 Hours of Prayer- ANDY24

ANDY [Anderson Lawn] | 24 [24-hours]

April 24, 2024 Landry French

The Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) at Hardin-Simmons University hosted its second annual ANDY24 earlier this month. During this time, the community came together for 24 hours of prayer. Rain prevented the entire 24 hours from happening outside, so worship, prayer, and speakers were split between Logdson Chapel and a tent outside on Anderson Lawn. From 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, HSU students, staff, and faculty prayed for the campus, Abilene, and the world.

During the event, BSM members helped students, faculty, staff, and alumni through prayer, whether early in the morning or late at night. The BSM also held three chapel services.

The tent set up on Anderson Lawn was decorated with blankets, pillows, and other furniture for students to reflect and pray comfortably in any position they wished. The tent also contained five stations for self-reflection and prayer, ranging from hand-written notes with prayer requests for others to pray upon to writing the lessons learned in the tent to share with others.

HSU prayed in quiet peace and proudly and loudly together during each of the three chapel services. Guest speakers during chapel were Ryan Eastman from Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Manny Silva, HSU’s BSM director, and Landri Bayless, a current HSU student. During Manny’s chapel service, he cited Matthew 5:23-24 as the most important lesson. It’s not about the act,” he explained. “God cares about your heart.”
