• Vision

Student Life will be a robust program that provides students with opportunities for meaningful engagement and transformation. The HSU experience will contain many “Meridian moments” – opportunities for learning and engagement. Top divisional priorities, as illustrated by our Student Life pillars, include student engagement and learning, spiritual formation, leadership development, community involvement, and holistic development.

HSU Student Life is striving for a truly residential learning experience for our students – one that strongly intersects with faculty. We expect to become a regionally- and eventually nationally-recognized division due to a relentless pursuit of excellence, James B Simmons a faithfulness to the maximizing and stewardship of resources, an ever-increasing inclusive spirit such that dialogues of difference are prevalent, and a dedication to helping students experience an education enlightened by faith.

Ultimately, each student should be confronted with the questions formed by school founder Dr. James B. Simmons, namely:

    1. What is the greatest thought that has ever occupied your mind?
    2. What is your duty toward fulfilling it?
