Spring Break Through the Lens of HSU Students

Spring Break was March 11-15, and some students spent the time exploring nature.

Courtney Jackson-Govea ‘24 took a trip to the Smoky Mountains and Congaree National Park

Courtney Jackson-Govea ’24 traveled to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park with Hardin-Simons University’s Hunter’s Gatherers & Travelers Club (HGT Club). The HGT Club visits state and national parks every chance they get. Courtney is a graphic design major with a minor in Christian studies.

The group camped outside and hiked trails, along with several hours of driving to and from. Courtney delighted herself with yummy camping food, especially the baked potatoes. I enjoyed the time spent at the campsite after hikes and just in community,” she shared. She is thankful for the gifts of friendship and the opportunity to relax and enjoy nature’s beauty. 

Alexa Celestte Martinez ‘26 embarked on a journey to Cancún, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

Alexa Celestte Martinez ’26 traveled to Cancún, Quintana Roo, Mexico. She majors in biochemistry at HSU. During her trip, she spent most of her time with family by the beach, taking in the beauty. 

She played in the waves with her family, relishing the opportunity to spend quality time with them. “It was wonderful to make memories with them, especially with my siblings, whom I miss dearly when I am at HSU,” she shared. After a rejuvenating trip, Alexa is ready to finish the rest of the semester strong.
