HSU Family to Reconnect at Homecoming 2017

Join us October 27-29 for a weekend of fun

Homecoming is, in many ways, a family reunion. It is a time to remember the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the future. The Alumni Association is excited for families to return to campus October 27-29 to celebrate what it means to be a part of the HSU family at Homecoming: Branded for Life.

“We’re looking forward to having everyone come back on campus,” Jenn Waldmann, Director of Alumni and Donor Engagement, said. “The energy that comes with homecoming is always a lot of fun.”

This year’s reunions are the Class of 1977, the 1986-87-88 Cluster, the Class of 2007, and the Golden Lariat Society (alumni celebrating over 50 years). Other groups celebrating milestone years include Sigma Alpha, Theta Alpha Zeta, the White Horse Riders, and the Spurs. The Spurs alumni will also perform with current Spurs during this year’s All-School SING.

“Whether it is music or sports, we have something planned for any interest,” Allison Goodwin, Assistant Director of Alumni & Donor Engagement, said. “We have also been working to make homecoming more family-friendly with something for all ages.”

For kids ages 2-11, the Posse Kids Corral will include bounce houses, crafts, games, face painting, and a visit from the White Horse Riders and the HSU Spurs. HSU Next! offers activities geared towards ages 12-15. This year, Pioneer Drive Baptist Church is offering childcare on Friday and Saturday nights. The cost is for $25 per child, and dinner is included.

A new addition to this year’s schedule is the HSU Tailgate before Saturday’s football game. Families can choose a calm lunch atmosphere in the cafeteria or join the HSU spirit squads outside the stadium for some pregame excitement.

Homecoming registration is now open online or over the phone. Those who preregister will receive a preprinted nametag upon arrival. The Alumni Office is also offering a free HSU Alumni t-shirt to the first 100 alumni households to register.
