As the weather cools and the campus prepares for a season of fun and connection, Hardin-Simmons University is gearing up for a semester filled with exciting intramural tournaments, lively SABER events, and traditions that will carry us into the holiday season.

1. Intramural Excitement: Game On, Cowboys!

Get ready for a competitive and fun-filled semester of intramurals. Students will have the chance to showcase their skills and enjoy friendly competition in a wide variety of events:

  • Fantasy Football will kick things off, keeping Cowboys engaged all season long.
  • 4 v 4 Sand Volleyball, Indoor Pickleball, and Outdoor Pickleball will bring both energy and camaraderie to September.
  • Look forward to creative contests like Bucket golf and QB54, followed by the semester’s biggest team event—Flag Football in early October.
  • October will also feature high-energy games such as Spikeball, Pickle-volley, and the campus-favorite Cornhole tournament.
  • As the semester heads into November, competition will continue with 3 v 3 Basketball, Boardball, 6 v 6 Volleyball, and the always popular Catanathon, giving students the chance to show off their strategic side.
  • Intramural Schedule Fall 2025

With so many options, every student will be able to find an intramural that suits their interests.

2. SABER Events: Fueling Cowboy Spirit

The Student Activities Board for Engaging Rookies (SABER) will keep the campus buzzing with events designed to bring students together and celebrate Cowboy pride.

  • Find Your Cowboy Spirit in September will be the perfect opportunity to gear up for game days with giveaways, spirit gear, and a chance to connect with fellow students.
  • Throughout the fall, SABER will host themed socials, creative activities, and spirited gatherings that will keep the energy high and the campus community thriving.

Students should watch the SABER calendar closely—there’s always something exciting right around the corner.

3. Traditions That Bind Us

Fall at Hardin-Simmons is about more than just classes and competitions—it’s about traditions that bring the Cowboy community together.

  • Homecoming 2025 will be one of the highlights of the semester, complete with reunions, athletic events, the Alumni Awards Banquet, and the Friday Night Festival full of food, games, and celebrations.
  • As the semester comes to a close, the Christmas Tree Lighting will usher in the holiday season. Students, faculty, and alumni will gather to enjoy carols, cocoa, twinkling lights, and the warmth of the Cowboy spirit before heading into finals and winter break.

These events are opportunities to not only celebrate but also to build lasting connections and memories.

4. Saturdays & Sports Rivalries

This fall will also bring plenty of game-day excitement. Cowboys can look forward to cheering on football, volleyball, and basketball throughout the season.

The Crosstown Showdown against McMurry promises to be a standout moment, filling the stands with Cowboy pride and fueling one of the most spirited rivalries in Texas.
