Environmental Science Minor

The goal of Hardin-Simmons Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences is to teach our students a solid foundation in the various geoscience disciplines. Our department provides fundamental training for career geologists and environmental scientists, introduces a basic understanding of the environmental science for our liberal arts student. Our program is designed to prepare students for graduate school and professional work in the environmental sciences.

Grad School Preparation

The Environmental Science program prepares students for graduate and professional careers. Our graduates have successfully been admitted to doctoral programs in environmental science, environmental health, Library Sciences, and Law (J.D.). Graduates of our program have succeeded in a wide range of professional career paths such as Texas Commission for Environmental Quality, Texas Railroad Commission, private sector environmental regulations careers, and have pursued additional environmental graduate work.

We can add great depth to letters of reference or recommendation! Our graduates are successful at seeking and entering further graduate work, including doctoral studies, and career paths.

Excellent Outcomes

All of our environmental science graduates have a landed meaningful employment in the field within six months of graduation or have continued their academic preparation with doctoral studies or other master’s work (Library Studies). Students moving on to graduate programs have been accepted at the University of North Texas, University of Texas – Arlington, Texas Tech, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
