Digital Media Degree

From live athletic broadcasts to satellite church services, there is great need for visual delivery of live information. The Digital Media degree will provide hands-on experience in visual, audio, live event, and replay productions. Students in this program will gain experience with production, technology, software, and specialized equipment that will position them as shoe-in hires upon graduation.

HSU’s Digital Media degree prepares you for a career in the growing job market for online media. Media is no longer just broadcasting and print. Social media and streaming services have taken over the playing field. Everyone can take part in digital media, from freelancers  to small businesses that want to promote their services. Both for-profit and non-profit organizations use streaming and other digital visual mediums for online promotion. But not everyone can do it well. Students in the digital media major will learn in a hands-on environment how to create, capture, and share content on a variety of media platforms – and do it well.

Digital Media is Now – and the Future!

As internet access has become practically ubiquitous, and access speeds have allowed real-time, high-definition video streaming directly to smart TVs and other connected devices, the media landscape has changed quickly and permanently. Data trends from the National Center for Education Statistics, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Career One-Stop, and other employment services websites all point to a healthy and growing job market for digital media graduates.

Students will take classes from a cross-disciplinary selection of courses in Strategic Communication, Art, and Marketing. These courses will be mostly face-to-face and several are hands-on practical work.
