U.S. News Ranks HSU Among Best Universities in the West

Hardin-Simmons University was recognized by the U.S. News & World Report 2018-2019 Best Colleges list as one of the best Universities in the West Region. Among the 2019 rankings, HSU was named to the Best Colleges for Veterans and the Best Value in Schools lists. The report also recognized HSU’s Physical Therapy program as a distinctive graduate school.

“Hardin-Simmons strives to offer students the best opportunities for excellence in education in all of our programs,” said HSU’s Provost and Chief Academic Officer, Christopher McNair. “It is always exciting to receive accolades from professionals in higher education.”

HSU scored high in the student-faculty ratio category, with our 12:1 class size. Over 64% of our classes have fewer than 20 students, creating a personal learning environment. HSU was also recognized for its high freshman retention rate.

The report recognized HSU’s campus services, including tutoring, placement services, and health services. HSU was also given a high safety rating with reference to our 24-hour patrols, late night transport/escort service, and controlled dormitory access.

The report gave HSU a high affordability rating, citing that 75% of full-time undergraduates receive need-based financial aid.
