Students to Explore Calling during Self-Discovery Week

October 1, 2018 Grace Mitchell, Staff Writer

Students will learn more about their strengths during HSU’s Self-Discovery Week Oct. 1-5.

“HSU Self-Discovery week is a fantastic opportunity for students to discover and share about their unique personality, life calling, and career goals,” said Director of Career Services, Alyssa Rasco. “Your time at HSU is formative and life-changing! Use this week’s events to help sharpen the lens on your future.”

From Strengths Week 2017

The week will begin with free personality testing and a personality workshop. Students can learn about their strengths and growing points through the Clifton Strengths, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and the Enneagram. This workshop will teach students how to best apply these tools for self-awareness, career exploration, and building a meaningful and purposeful life.

Students will be able to attend a yoga session with Dr. Melissa Madeson to learn how mindfulness and other contemplative practices can help them combat stress or anxiety. During a Career and Calling Panel, panelists will answer questions about their calling and how they use it in their careers.

The week will end with Share Light, an open mic night where students are encouraged to share what they have learned about themselves through story, poetry, song, or other artistic expressions.

Throughout the week, students can post their personality profiles on a self-discovery wall in the library and browse through books about self-discovery, Strengths, or Enneagram.
