HSU and Cisco College Partner to Streamline Transfer Pathways
Hardin-Simmons University recently welcomed representatives from Cisco College as the two institutions took an important step toward strengthening educational pathways for students across the Big Country through a new articulation agreement.
The partnership creates a structured transfer pathway for students who begin their academic journey at Cisco College, allowing them to apply completed coursework toward a bachelor’s degree at Hardin-Simmons University. By coordinating academic requirements between the two institutions, the agreement is designed to minimize transfer barriers, helping students stay on track and complete their degrees more efficiently.
…Hardin-Simmons is one of our top transfer partners…
Leaders from both institutions emphasized that the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to student success, particularly in supporting a smooth transition from a two-year to a four-year program. The agreement aims to provide clarity and confidence for students as they plan their academic futures.
“For our students, these local partnerships are critical,” said Heather McClure, Vice President of Instruction/CAO & Accreditation Liaison. “It means we get to keep our students here locally and we ensure they can finish their degrees at universities we work with. Hardin-Simmons is one of our top transfer partners, and we are excited to renew this so that our students can continue to benefit from that partnership.”
Under the terms of the agreement, students may transfer up to 66 credit hours into a bachelor’s program at Hardin-Simmons, allowing them to maximize previously earned credits while reducing the overall time and cost required to earn a degree.
University officials noted that the partnership is part of a broader effort to expand access to higher education opportunities in West Texas while also supporting workforce development and meeting the needs of regional communities.
“Cisco and Hardin-Simmons have had a long-standing partnership,” said Lori Grubbs, Dean of Enrollment, “and a spirit of welcoming students on both campuses. We look forward to continuing that and assisting students in whatever needs that they have as they come to Cisco and as they transition to Hardin-Simmons.”
Both institutions plan to review the agreement on a regular basis to ensure academic programs remain aligned and responsive to student needs, reinforcing a commitment to continuous improvement.
Hardin-Simmons University looks forward to developing this partnership with Cisco College and continuing to create opportunities that support student achievement and open doors for future success.
