Hardin-Simmons University Launches Mission Trip Initiative to Expand Impact

New LiveSent program will send first mission teams during spring break 2026

August 22, 2025

Hardin-Simmons University is proud to announce the launch of LiveSent, a bold new initiative mobilizing students, faculty, and staff to serve on mission locally, nationally, and globally. This strategic effort reflects HSU’s deep commitment to preparing Christ-centered leaders who are equipped to serve with purpose, compassion, and conviction.

Rooted in John 20:21 — “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you”—LiveSent expands on HSU’s current initiatives, such as Serve Like Simmons and medical mission trips, by inviting the HSU community to live as ambassadors of Christ, reflecting His love, proclaiming the Gospel, and serving others with humility and boldness.

“This initiative embodies the very heart of who we are as a Christ-centered institution,” said Heather Hadlock, associate vice president for strategic initiatives. “We’re not just preparing students for careers — we’re preparing them to be servant leaders who make a lasting impact in communities around the world. The Great Commandment calls us to love our neighbors, and this program helps us live that out in tangible, transformational ways.”

LiveSent was born from a university visioning session centered around one key question: If there were no barriers, what would we want for HSU’s future? Among many shared dreams, the vision for a campus-wide mission movement emerged, with its first trip scheduled to launch during spring break 2026.

True to its West Texas roots and global vision, HSU is actively seeking partnerships with churches, nonprofits, and international organizations that align with the mission and values of LiveSent. These collaborations will allow HSU teams to serve with humility, cultural intelligence, and a Gospel-driven focus.
