Career Services Spring Line-Up Offers Improv, Panels & Job Fairs
(Abilene, Texas) The HSU Career Services Department offers several events throughout the semester to prepare students for careers or graduate school.
Wendy Smith, Director of Career Services, said, “We are seeking to target different student needs that foster an understanding of their life-calling in preparation for life after college.”
Improv for Interviewing is February 21 from 11:50 a.m. -12:50 p.m. in Moody Center 233. Theatre professor Dr. Victoria Spangler will present how improvisation skills can prepare you for a job interview. Lunch will be provided.
Graduate School Discussion Panel is March 8 from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the Johnson Building Multi-Purpose Room. This event will help current students learn more about the benefit of graduate degrees and the graduate school possibilities at HSU. Lunch will be provided.
“In 2015, 27 percent of HSU undergraduates went on to graduate school. The national average is 17 percent,” said Smith. “We developed this program in partnership with several other departments on campus because we saw the need and wanted to provide students with an opportunity to learn more about the programs offered at HSU.”
The Full Time Career and Internship Fair is March 29 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the Johnson Building Multi-Purpose Room. Students attending this fair can connect with employers and other opportunities.
Smith said, “The Full Time Job and Internship Fair is an opportunity for all levels of HSU students to engage with employers who are specifically seeking HSU students because of the skills HSU students exemplify.”
The Tri-University Teacher Job Fair is April 6 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Abilene Civic Center. The Tri-University Job Fair allows students and alumni to connect with numerous school districts and education centers in the U.S. and abroad.
