The transition from high school into college can be a major adjustment for incoming college freshmen and their families. Registering for college courses and becoming familiarized with the campus can be a daunting experience.

To make this new change simple and even fun for the students, Hardin-Simmons University offers a Round-Up on June 23 to begin the process of making HSU a home away from home for the students.

At the Round-Up, new incoming freshman and transferring students who’ve been admitted for this upcoming fall will complete administrative objectives and get their first taste of what it means to be a part of the HSU family.

“It’s important for the students and their parents to get a feel for what is about to change their lives. They will get to see that it’s a beautiful, friendly, and safe place for their student,” said Anna Moreno, the coordinator for undergraduate admissions.

The Round-Up will begin with check-in at 10:00 a.m. at the Dyess Welcome Center. Students will complete enrollment-related tasks, such as financial aid, registration, and getting a student ID.

Additionally, the admitted students will meet with their faculty advisor, receive advising for the upcoming semester, and sign up for the fall classes.

Orientation events and student life breakout sessions will also assist the students in transitioning from high school to HSU.

Grant Greenwood, the director of admissions and recruiting, believes this Round-Up will be successful in numbers and give the students a chance to start their official college stories.

“This Round-Up is projected to be one of the largest Round-Ups we have had in five years. This will be a great starting point for all of the students,” Greenwood said.
