Students Become Part of the HSU Family at Stampede

(Abilene, Texas) Hardin-Simmons University will provide new students with a fun and easy transition into college through Stampede on August 22-27. The orientation program is designed to give students a glimpse into the college life and help them become part of the HSU family.

New students attending the event will be placed into teams and led by upper-class students, known as Wranglers. The Wranglers spend every moment connecting with the new students and teaching them about the policies, expectations, and opportunities at Hardin-Simmons.

All students will get the opportunity to participate in fun, interactive activities around campus, such as campus tag and paint wars.

They also engage in community service projects to help strengthen their bonds with other students and get to know the people of Abilene. HSU sophomore and volunteer at Stampede, Kyndall Blagrave, looks forward to the community service every year and believes that it reflects the giving spirit of HSU.

“We are all called to serve, and it’s a humbling experience to be able to give your time and efforts to people, as well as show the love of Christ to them,” Blagrave said.

Students will also learn the history of Hardin- Simmons and take part in long standing traditions, such as the Beanie Capping Ceremony at the end of the week.

With its engaging, thoughtful opportunities and activities, Stampede has given students a fun and memorable experience at HSU.

“Stampede helped me transition into college easier, meet new friends, and get involved on campus. I can’t wait to meet new students this year and show them how awesome HSU is,” said GeJay Pableo, a Wrangler at Stampede and sophomore at HSU.
