2017-18 Six White Horses Team Announced

September 25, 2017 Anna Jones, Staff Writer

The 2017-18 Hardin-Simmons Six White Horses Team has been officially announced. Debbie Jones, Director of the White Horse Program, said the new team of riders is filled with enthusiasm, talent, and HSU spirit. “We have a lot of freshman, and I’m excited about that,” she added.

This year, the Six White Horses has increased to ten riders. In the past, the team has included only eight riders. Jones noted, “This year, I took 10 because we’re getting busier. I’ve decided to take a few more riders to help with the demand.”

The Six White Horses team has represented Hardin-Simmons for close to one hundred years. They keep a busy schedule, performing at rodeos, parades, and schools across the state.

Being chosen to ride with the Six White Horses team is an honor. These students carry the flags of Texas and the United States across the country. Often, when people think of Hardin-Simmons University, this is the first image that comes to mind.

These ten students are ready to carry on an HSU legacy. The tryouts are not easy and they have proven themselves to be talented riders and leaders. When speaking of the new team, Jones said, “I’m really excited about working with them.”
