Hardin-Simmons University offers the Master of Music degree in Performance, Music Education, Theory and Composition, and Church Music.

Music has always been a priority at Hardin-Simmons. At its beginning in 1891 the founders proclaimed, "the School of Music will be organized at once."

The attitude persists. In 1929, Dr. Irl Allison, Dean of the School of Music changed the world for young pianists by establishing the National Guild of Piano Teachers on the HSU campus. In 1930 the School of Music became the first school in Texas accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.

In the years since, choirs, bands, and orchestras have performed to national and international acclaim. Throughout the world and throughout the years, HSU graduates have established successful careers as performers, composers, church musicians and educators.
