Student Research Symposium

The “Student Research Symposium” is a venue for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students from area schools and universities to present posters on their research.

The symposium is multidisciplinary and includes research in all areas of Arts and Humanities; Social Science; and STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics].

A student presents his research at the HSU Research Symposium.

The event, sponsored by the Hardin-Simmons HSSM Research Society, is a free event for any high school, undergraduate, or graduate student who wishes to submit an abstract for approval and consideration in the symposium. The event is open to the public and a great way to showcase student research around the area. All selected participants will have their abstracts published in the symposium program and will receive a certificate of participation.

Symposium Eligibility

  • Abstracts will only be accepted by current high school, undergraduate, or graduate students enrolled in area high school, colleges or universities.
  • Presentations must include research completed within 12 months leading up to the abstract submission deadline. Students conducting projects over several years should only present information completed within 12 months of the abstract submission deadline.
  • Each abstract submitted must include a signed Sponsor statement confirming the student’s contribution to the research.
  • Students are limited to the submission of two abstracts which must include different topics. If research projects are collaborative efforts among several students, only one abstract may be submitted per research collaborative and counts as an abstract submission for each co-author regardless of whether the student is presenting or not.
