Dr. Karin Brown, associate professor of criminal justice, is Head of the HSU Criminal Justice Department and Program Director of the Forensic Studies Program in the Cynthia Ann Parker College of Liberal Arts.

She is a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University in both undergraduate and graduate studies. She completed a Ph.D. in Professional Studies with a focus in Criminal Justice/Criminology at Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Prior to her appointment at HSU, Brown served in various positions within the criminal justice field, including counseling and consulting for the Taylor County Juvenile Probation Department. She currently holds a license as a professional counselor and supervisor for LPC interns.

Brown serves on the Abilene Police Academy Advisory Board and is a member of the North Texas Crime Prevention Association.
