Dr. Marsha Rutland,


Dr. Marsha Rutland graduated from University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy in 1979. She received her Master of Education degree from Hardin-Simmons in sports & recreation management in 2002 and her Sc.D. in physical therapy with emphasis in orthopedics from Texas Tech University in 2008 and also earned her certification as an orthopedic manual therapist (COMT) for extremities through IAOM.

In June, 2003, Rutland earned her certification as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) through the APTA and was recertified in 2011. She also is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).

Rutland has 33 years of experience as a clinical practitioner in a variety of settings, including outpatient neuro-orthopedic rehab, home health, orthopedics, acute rehab and outpatient rehab as well as state school experience. Rutland was a clinical instructor for 20 years and was recognized in 2002 by the Texas Consortium for Physical Therapy Clinical Education, Inc. as an outstanding clinical instructor. In 2011, the Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA) presented Rutland with the William R. Gould Memorial Outstanding Physical Therapy Faculty Member Award.

She serves as the newsletter editor for the Midwest District of the TPTA. She is actively involved with the HSU PT Ministries program and is often asked to speak at community activities including the Region XIV Coaches Clinic.
