    Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)

    Offered under the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing, our program strives to provide an environment that presents opportunities to develop skills vital to success in the nursing field through hands-on experience. Our program uniquely promotes the development of intellectual, cultural, moral and religious values. 

    Courses cover a variety of knowledge fields in order to prepare you for the nursing profession and help you rise to the top in the workforce. These include Anatomy & Physiology, Critical Care Nursing, Developmental Psychology, Health Assessment, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Pathophysiology and Leadership & Management.


    Admissions Requirements

    Upon completion of the 46 hours of core curriculum and advice from the student's nursing Faculty advisor, the student must apply through the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing (PHSSN). Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for admission:

    • Minimum 3.00 GPA (on a 4.00 scale).
    • Completion of all* Nursing prerequisite courses with a letter grade of 'C' or higher.
    • Completion of Nursing Entrance Exam.
    • Completion of General Education Requirements through Hardin-Simmons University, prior to first semester at PHSSN. 

    *Exception: Anatomy and Physiology I & II, Microbiology and Pathophysiology must have a minimum of a 'B'
