April Lindner's poetry collection Skin was the 2002 winner of the Walt McDonald First Book Poetry Prize from Texas Tech University Press. Poet Andrew Hudgins calls Skin "a superb achievement and a delight to read."
Mrs. Lindner's poetry has been published in many of the top literary journals and magazines, including: The Paris Review, The Hudson Review, The Carolina Quarterly, and others. Her poems have also appeared in many anthologies of poetry including Garrison Keillor's edited collection Good Poems (Viking Penguin) and R. S. Gwynn's Poetry: A Pocket Reader (Longman/Penguin Academics). Mrs. Lindner's poem "Girl" has been included in the fifth edition of what many poets consider the definitive study of the craft of poetry - John Frederick Nims and David Mason's Western Wind: An Introduction To Poetry (McGraw Hill). Ms. Lindner's poetry chapbook Unsent Letters was published in 1989 by Stop Light Press of Bronxville, New York.
In addition to winning the Texas Tech University Press's Walt McDonald First-Book Poetry Prize for Skin, Mrs. Lindner was a Walter E. Dakin Fellow at the 2002 Sewanee Writers Conference; she was a nominee for the 2001 Pushcart Prize and a finalist for the 1990 Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of American Poets. She received Prairie Schooner's 1992 Reader's Choice Award, and Garrison Keillor has twice read Ms. Lindner's poems on his nationally syndicated radio program The Writer's Almanac.
April Lindner joined the faculty of Saint Joseph's University, Philadelphia, in the Fall of 2001. She directs poetry and fiction workshops and teaches courses in contemporary American poetry, beginning creative writing, theory and practice, texts and contexts, and the craft of language. Her Ph.D. is from the University of Cincinnati, her M.F.A. from Sarah Lawrence College, and her B.A. from the University of New Hampshire. April Lindner lives in Havertown, Pennsylvania, with her husband Andre St. Amant and their sons Eli and Noah.
