Summer Internship Spotlight: Elijah Arias

Classes may be out for summer vacation, but that doesn’t mean Hardin-Simmons students aren’t hard at work, sharpening their skills in their respective job fields and courses of study. This summer, we’ll feature students who are interning, volunteering, or working around the world. If there is a student you think we should feature, reach out to marketing@hsutx.edu!
Name: Elijah Arias
Hometown: Carlsbad, Texas
Major: Double Major in Accounting and Economics
Summer Plans: This summer, Elijah is working for Pine Cove’s Camp in the City. As a counselor for first through fifth graders, Elijah will visit various camp locations in East Texas to share the Gospel.
How has HSU played a role in getting you here: This past semester, HSU has made me determined to depend on the Lord. For so long in my life, I have depended on myself and my friends; however, friends at HSU and in Abilene have encouraged me to wait on Him alone.
Most impactful mentor at HSU: I want to give a shout-out to my discipleship co-leader, Joel Williams. Although Joel is younger than I am and joined the HSU family a year after I did, his love for the Lord and others is so well-seasoned and mature. Having him as a voice of encouragement has really been a gift and a joy.
What made you choose to take part in this work, and how will it prepare you for the future: I chose this summer job because I LOVE working at camp. Although I have never worked for Pine Cove, having strong, Christian friends who have worked with Pine Cove made me want to enroll myself in the same fashion. This summer will be filled with fun, high energy, and so many sweet memories with kids, fellow staffers, and families alike; however, the main reason I am serving is because of the Gospel.
