Spring Graduation Spotlight: Audra Butler

Audra Butler will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in general studies with a double minor in music and business. Her academic journey has not taken the traditional route, with Butler mentioning she had always thought about completing her education but never felt the time or circumstances were right.
“In 2020, I was seeking the Lord about my ministry involvement and how I would spend my time outside of schooling my children. The Lord was very specific and revealed that it was time for me to go back to school and finish what I had started over two decades ago,” she said.
Butler said she is thankful for the people at HSU who have helped shape and form her.
“HSU has helped encourage me on this journey with all of the support from my advisor, the administration, my professors, and the other students I have met!” Butler said. “They have been so enthusiastic and hopeful for all the Lord has for me. My biggest HSU supporters have been President and Mrs. Bruntmyer, along with my advisor, Kacey Higgins. They have been incredible!”
While being a non-traditional student has had its challenges, Butler has an encouraging word for those facing similar difficulties to hers.
The Lord’s timing is not our own! His timing is perfect, and He will make a way if that is what He calls you to do!
Butler added, “The fear is real and can be overpowering and intimidating at times. However, we serve a God with limitless possibilities, and the purpose of each individual life is beautiful and great! He is faithful and will help you through anything He calls you to do! He is so proud of your obedience.”
After graduation, Butler plans to continue homeschooling her children and enjoy her son’s senior year of high school.
“I am praying about how the Lord will use this season and degree,” she said. “I am confident He will use this as a jumping-off point for what He has next!”
