Spiritual Formation at Hardin-Simmons: Behold, Become, Be Bold
Cultivating Christlikeness and Authentic Worshipers to Transform the World

At Hardin-Simmons University, spiritual formation is a vital part of the mission to shape students holistically. Faculty, staff, and administration seek to lead with intentionality, modeling a Christ-centered life. Rooted in HSU’s Christian identity, spiritual formation exists to cultivate a deep love for God and others as we grow to become more like Christ and transform the world around us.
This journey is guided by three rhythms: Behold, Become, and Be Bold. Each represents a vital step in the life of a believer and shapes how the HSU community experiences and embodies faith on campus and beyond.
Behold is the invitation to pause and turn our eyes toward God. Through worship gatherings, prayer experiences, and chapel for faculty, staff, and students, we encounter the presence of God in meaningful ways. These moments remind us of God’s majesty and stir our hearts to deeper devotion, laying the foundation for transformation.
Become focuses on inward growth—developing into the likeness of Christ through spiritual disciplines, discipleship, and authentic community. At HSU, students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to study Scripture, seek mentoring, and open their lives to the Holy Spirit. Becoming is not about perfection but about consistent transformation. As we grow in Christlikeness, we are equipped to love God and others with greater purpose.
Be Bold is the natural outflow of beholding God and becoming like Christ. It is the call to live out faith through service and missions. Whether in local outreach or global mission trips, the HSU family is challenged to demonstrate Christ’s love with compassion and courage. Boldness in faith means stepping into the needs of others and sharing the gospel as we go.
Ultimately, spiritual formation at HSU is about more than personal growth. It is about creating a community of believers who reflect Christ in every area of life and seek to transform the world. Through intentional worship, inward transformation, and outward action, we are empowered to live lives of eternal significance.
