“This scholarship has made it possible for me to grow not only academically and musically, but spiritually. I’ve been able to serve, lead, and worship without constantly worrying about how to make ends meet.”

Finances are a concern for a lot of students and families. Tell us about the impact the scholarship has had on you.

College can be really overwhelming financially, and I know that without the help of scholarships, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Receiving a scholarship allowed me to say “yes” to HSU and everything God had in store for me here. It’s taken so much pressure off me and my family, and I’ve been able to pour my time and energy into serving, studying, and growing in my calling, rather than constantly worrying about how to pay for school.

How has HSU impacted you?

HSU has truly become home. I love the way this campus feels: small, connected, and full of kind, genuine people. You’re never just a number here. Everyone knows each other, supports each other, and that has made all the difference in my experience. This place has helped shape me into who I am, and I’m so thankful to be part of such a Christ-centered community.

How has your degree program helped prepare you for your future career calling?

Being in the Worship Leadership program has been one of the best decisions of my life. It’s such a unique degree that brings together everything I need to be ready for ministry: communication and tech skills, leadership development, musical training, and a solid spiritual foundation. I feel confident and equipped to step into full-time worship ministry with a heart that’s ready to serve and lead God’s people well.

Tell us about the impact the scholarship has had on you.

The scholarship I received has been one of the biggest blessings in my college journey. It removed a huge weight off my shoulders and allowed me to step confidently into the calling God has placed on my life. Without it, attending Hardin-Simmons might not have been possible. But because of that support, I’ve had the freedom to fully invest in my education, ministry, and campus life.

This scholarship has made it possible for me to grow not only academically and musically, but spiritually as well. I’ve been able to serve, lead, and worship without constantly worrying about how to make ends meet. It has opened the door to experiences and opportunities that are shaping me into the worship leader I’m called to be. I’m incredibly thankful to the donors who choose to invest in students like me. It’s more than financial help; it’s an investment in the future of ministry and the Kingdom.

Tell us about your journey to HSU.

I felt the Lord calling me into ministry during a Disciple Now weekend. It was such a clear and powerful moment in my life. When I started looking for where to follow that call, HSU stood out as the perfect place. From the Worship Leadership program to the Christ-centered community, it was everything I was praying for. I knew God had led me here, and I’ve never looked back.

What has been your greatest achievement thus far?

Definitely getting to be part of All School Sing in Fall 2024. I wrote and performed an original song called Daughter of the West, which is a song straight from my heart about how much I love this school. When we won Best Interact, it was such a surreal and special moment. It reminded me just how meaningful this place is and how powerful it is to create something that reflects that.

What HSU organizations have you been involved with?

I’ve had the joy of being involved in several amazing groups here. I serve on the executive board of Kappa Phi Omega: a brotherhood of Christian men focused on service. I’m also part of the Chapel Band, where we lead worship all across campus, and I’m currently an officer in the HSU Choir. Each of these communities has challenged me and helped me grow as both a leader and a follower of Christ.

What is next for you?

Next up is my senior year. I’ve grown so much during my time here, and I feel ready to take that next step into full-time worship ministry. I don’t know all the details yet, but I know God is preparing me to serve His people with a full heart and strong foundation. I’m excited to see where He sends me next with my bittersweet graduation.

What is your favorite Cowboy tradition?

My favorite tradition has to be the Big Country Hymn Sing. There’s just something powerful about gathering with people of all ages to worship through the hymns that have carried the Church for generations. And having it led by Dr. Bob Brooks, our incredible dean of the College of Arts and Media, makes it even more special. It’s a beautiful reminder of how worship connects us all.

What is your favorite study spot on campus?

I love studying in the Richardson Library Courtyard, right outside of Gilberts. It’s peaceful and has just the right atmosphere for focusing. Plus, it’s a great place to run into friends or take a moment to breathe between classes! It’s my go-to spot for getting work done or just enjoying the campus.
