New Lights Up at Shelton Stadium

HSU Football games are about to get a whole lot cooler—in both senses of the word. Thanks to recent donations, Shelton Stadium now has new lights installed for the 2018 season.

The Cowboys have already scheduled their first two games of the season to being at 6 p.m.: Howard Payne on Sept. 22 and East Texas Baptist on Sept. 29.

“We are very excited about the new lights at Shelton Stadium,” said Head Football Coach Jesse Burleson. “They are a very generous addition to our current facility. The atmosphere for our home games should be second-to-none in the nation. The 2018 Cowboys can’t wait to take the field under the new lights and take this program to the next level.”

The stadium lights are part of several recent updates made to HSU Athletics, including new lights at the HSU Soccer Complex and a new baseball scoreboard at Hunter Field.
