HSU Students Honored by Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP)

Three students from Hardin-Simmons University were awarded the Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP) in February. JAMP gives these students the opportunity to receive guaranteed admission into one of the nine medical schools in Texas.

Kathrine Do, sophomore biochemistry major from Grand Prairie, Texas, said, “Words cannot describe how happy I was when I found out that I was accepted.”

The JAMP program not only assists students with getting into medical school but also provides MCAT prep, scholarship money and summer internships.

Kyler Masonheimer, sophomore biology major from Merkel, TX, said, “HSU is a small community with plenty opportunities to get involved and make yourself a more competitive applicant.”

The application process for JAMP includes a lengthy application with information from high school up until your last semester of your freshman year and an interview in Lubbock and then selected by a committee.

Saleena Ramzanali, sophomore biology major from Hawley, Texas, said, “It took me about three months to completely finish the application. I am so thankful for the professors and their constant support and encouragement throughout the process.”
