(ABILENE, Texas)–HSU is well-known for Its plethora of annual summer camps. With the summer months fast approaching, our coaching staff is hard at work preparing for HSU’s annual athletics camps. Camps are available for students ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade and all skill levels are welcome.

Football

HSU offers three types of football camps: Kids Camp, Junior High Camp, and Cowboy Corral.

Kids Camp is open to kids in kindergarten through sixth grade, and will focus on offensive and defensive fundamentals, punt/pass/kick competition and positional drill work. This is a non-contact camp, and drills and skills taught at this level are designed to allow each camper to experience each phase of a football game. This camp emphasizes safety and fun to young football enthusiasts.

Players in 10th grade through 12th grade are invited to this skills camp where they will be coached by HSU’s defensive and offensive coaches. This camp includes position-specific competitions and focuses on developing specific skills to prepare players for college.

Youth Camp is open to girls in kindergarten through sixth grade and provides campers with fun opportunities to develop and hone their fundamental basketball skills. HSU head coach Kendra Hassell and assistant coach Sierra Allen have developed the camp for girls of all experience levels to gain a greater knowledge of the game, receive personalized instruction in small groups for maximum attention and evaluation, and make new friends.

College Prep Camp is open to high school girls who want to continue playing basketball at the collegiate level. The camp will include fundamental skill development and instructional drills typically used within the Cowgirl Basketball Program, and will conclude with full-court games.

“Our youth camp gives our team the opportunity to interact with youth from the community. Our goal is to help young girls improve fundamental basketball skills while developing confidence. It’s also just a really fun week with basketball related games, contests, and prizes,” says Allen.

She continues, “our college prep camp really helps us in the recruiting process. It provides an opportunity for prospective student-athletes to spend time on campus, receive some coaching from our staff, and interact with our players. This camp is also good for those just looking to get reps at fundamental skills and have the opportunity to compete in 1on1 situations as well as live play.”
