On Nov. 21, Hardin Simmons University hosted its annual Turkey Day 5K. The Turkey Day 5K has been a tradition for 13 years on campus. The purpose of this event is to celebrate, express gratitude for the provisions of the year, and to show appreciation for our blessings by engaging in healthy competition.

Starting at Mabee parking lot, President Bruntmyer ran with many others in a course around the HSU campus to raise funds for the Special Olympics of Texas and Unified Sport. The proceeds assist in providing sports training in different Olympic sports to participants in the Special Olympics program.

At the end of the race, participants were awarded medals and T-shirts for completing their challenge, a tradition HSU will uphold for years to come.
