Honk! to Premiere Oct. 5-8th
The Hardin-Simmons University Theatre department is putting on a fun, family-friendly musical entitled Honk! from October 5th to the 8th. The musical is an adaptation of the famous “Ugly Duckling” story and follows one duckling on the journey of his life after leaving his nest.
During Pops at the Pond, theatre students gave a sneak peek of a musical number from Honk!
“This show is filled with comedy, drama, and love. There is something in this show for everyone!” Dayna Steyn, sophomore and Promotion Director for the HSU Theatre Department, said.
Colton Bosang, a sophomore BFA musical theatre major, is playing “Ugly,” the lead in Honk! Dani Broyles, a senior BFA theatre education major, is playing the leading lady “Ida.” Bishop Martinez, a sophomore BFA acting major, will be playing the comedic role of “Cat.”
“After watching Honk!, I hope that our audience understands the impact that one’s words can have on other people,” Steyn said. “I hope that they take the time to remember to be kind and friendly to everyone because, in reality, we’re all a little “different,” and that is a good thing. Being kind should be the basis of humanity and not just an afterthought.”
