Holland Awards Ceremony

At the end of every school year, the Holland School of Sciences and Mathematics at Hardin-Simmons University recognizes students who have performed exceptionally in their fields of study. Graduating students are awarded medals to commemorate their success, while current students are granted scholarships. The faculty are tasked with choosing recipients from the department of the student’s major and selecting the top graduate from their department to receive the Holland medal, which is the highest honor for a student in HSSM.

Elsie Okoye ’26, a Holland Award recipient majoring in biochemistry with minors in molecular biology and honors, shared, “Winning this award and scholarship was a huge encouragement to me and I view it as a pat on the back. This is motivation for me to keep going and a reminder that good things come to those who work hard.”
