Hardin-Simmons to Host Pool Party with Special Olympics

On Thursday, October 5, 2023, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Hardin-Simmons University will host a pool party with Special Olympics Texas and Special Olympics Texas athletes. The entire HSU community is welcome to attend and learn how to get involved with the annual Polar Plunge event, which will take place in 2024.

The Polar Plunge is an annual fundraiser that takes place in the winter. In the cold weather, participants jump into a pool, lake, ocean, or any specified body of water, all to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics Texas. All money raised from the Polar Plunge goes toward providing year-round sports training and competition, health, and inclusion programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities in your community.

The goals of Thursday’s pool party are for participants to have fun in water temperatures that are not freezing and to raise excitement around the upcoming Polar Plunge event. At the pool party, participants will have the opportunity to learn about and sign up for next year’s Polar Plunge.
