(ABILENE, Texas)–The Hardin-Simmons Theatre Department performed the show This Random World from Nov. 8-10. Directed by HSU adjunct professor Teri Wilkerson, the show is about a life full of random coincidences rather than the belief in fate.

“Our goal is to present a truthful and honest look at encounters that occur in real life – encounters that take place every day, every moment, even when we are not paying attention,” Wilkerson states in the brochure for the play.

A funeral was held for one of the characters in "This Random World."

Although the show contains a small cast of seven, the heavy theme makes up for it. Throughout the play, the audience is shown small life-changing moments that are missed between each character. For instance, if someone had spoken differently, picked up the phone, or even stood somewhere just a moment longer, the entire play could have ended in a completely different way, with each character having a much different end than before.

“I liked that all of the characters were interconnected, and I got to see it build throughout the play,” said audience member, Kirsten Patterson.

The next theatre production after This Random World will be The Night of January 16th, and will open on Nov. 20 and continue through Nov. 24. For more information, or if interested in purchasing tickets for any theatre production, go to the theatre website.
