FCA Leadership Camp motivates student athletes
(ABILENE, Texas)–Last week at Hardin-Simmons, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Leadership Camp made the campus much livelier with its many activities going on each day. The camp took place from July 17 to July 21. Student athletes from sixth to tenth grade came together to meet new people, participate in fun activities, gain spiritual knowledge, and worship together. Each athlete left the week-long camp better equipped to be spiritual leaders in all areas of their lives.
A group takes time to discuss and share thoughts
This year’s theme was “Let’s Go,” centered around what Jesus instructs the disciples to do in Matthew 28:19-20. The camp’s theme focused on “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” The leaders and campers focused on these particular verses through the week, with the ideal outcome being that the campers now better understand how to share the gospel.
The camp’s purpose is to teach student athletes “practical skills for Christian growth, the development as an effective campus leader and the training for spiritual, organizational and motivational tools for use in the FCA Campus Ministry.” FCA Leadership Camp’s main goal is to build effective leaders.
Fun activities were combined with group study and discussion, breakout sessions, and worship time to provide campers with an enjoyable and well-rounded experience.
