(KERRVILLE, Texas)—Schreiner University, after a nation-wide search, has announced that it has hired Dr. Travis Frampton, current VP for University Mission and Strategic Vision at Hardin-Simmons University, to be its new Provost and VP for Academic Affairs.

Dr. Frampton has been teaching at HSU for 19 years and has worked in many different roles, including professor of Biblical Studies, associate provost, SACS liaison, and Vice President for University Mission and Strategic Vision. Dr. Frampton received his B.A. from Samford University, his M.A.R. from Yale University, and a dual Ph.D. in Philosophy from Erasmus University Rotterdam in The Netherlands and Religion from Baylor University. Among his other accomplishments, Dr. Frampton is also well-known for being the person who rediscovered and publicized the story of James B. Simmons all over campus and into the HSU Community. By rediscovering this long-lost heritage, Dr. Frampton has helped HSU rediscover its mission and vision.

“We are delighted to have Dr. Frampton joining the Schreiner community,” said Dr. Charlie McCormick, Schreiner University President. “Although he is new to Schreiner, faculty and staff have told me that they felt that he already understands our core commitments at Schreiner.
