Chemistry Students Attend ACS Conference in Louisiana
From Nov. 5 to Nov. 8 2022, Dr. Jemimah Ingle, Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Hardin-Simmons University, accompanied nine of HSU’s science students to the annual American Chemical Society (ACS) South-West Regional Meeting. The event took place at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. ACS regional meetings aim to show the numerous chemical professional interests in all geographic regions.
“Attending conferences provides an opportunity for our students to hear and learn about research and advances in the field of chemistry,” shared Dr. Ingle.
At this year’s ACS conference, undergraduate and graduate students presented research works that were ongoing or completed during various seminars. The seminars were categorized on the different fields in chemistry including analytical, physical, organic, and inorganic.
The ACS conference provided an opportunity for chemistry students to network. They were able to build their network through meeting other students who share similar interests in chemistry, as well as interact with representatives from different graduate schools, gaining information on the requirements for attending and discovering graduate schools they may be interested in attending.
