Students Break for Pancakes

Pancake Study Break brings students, faculty and staff together for one last time before the semester ends.

With the week of final exams comes another loved Hardin-Simmons tradition, the Pancake Study Break!

The Pancake Study Break is held the Sunday before every exam week at 9pm in Moody Center. Hardin-Simmons Student Life coordinates this “breakfast” to bring the campus together one last time before the break and offer the students some relief from all of the studying.

Sophomore nursing major, Olivia Bodiford from Fort Worth, finds joy in this time. “I’ve been studying all day. I went to church and then I sat down at my desk with textbooks and flashcards, so this is a fun and much needed break.”

Dr. Larry McGraw, Professor of Bible and Associate Dean of Theology, MC’d the event and announced the door prizes, while other faculty, staff, administrators and their families devoted their Sunday evening to serving the students.

Terri Prestidge, Office Manager of the Baptist Student Ministry, tries each semester to attend. “I volunteer to serve because the students work so hard this time in the semester, and I want to make finals a little easier for them,” she said. “We really care about the students here.”

This semester’s “breakfast” was served to over 349 Hardin-Simmons students! The tradition again, bringing respite from the stress of finals and some fun moments with friends.
