December Graduate Spotlight: Cameron Hanna

December 14, 2021 Sarah Harbison

Cameron Hanna’s time at Hardin-Simmons is marked by leadership both on and off the field. Cameron served as a captain for Cowboy Football while also majoring in biology with a minor in biochemistry.

“Cameron is a great example of what a Cowboy should be”- Coach Burleson

The Abilene native has prioritized giving back wherever he can. Cameron has volunteered for Cowboys and Kids, a program that allows football players to make a difference in the lives of at-risk students at local elementary schools. Cameron also volunteers with Young Life Capernaum where he shares the gospel with high school students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

During his time as a Cowboy, Cameron was named to the Academic All-ASC for three years, as well as Third-Team All-ASC and Second-Team All-ASC. Despite the numerous awards from his time on the field, Cameron says that playing college football beside his brother, Cason, was the most special to him.

Cameron shared, “Coming to HSU was one of the best decisions I ever made.” He is grateful for those who have invested in him and allowed him to experience spiritual growth.

After graduation, Cameron plans to hit the books studying for the MCAT, and begin applying to medical school. While he is unsure of his specialty yet, he is extremely passionate about his future career in medicine. We cannot wait to see how Cameron brings his cowboy spirit into the next chapter of his life!
