Dr. Bruce Main
The founder and president of Urban Promise, Main established his first summer camp in the city of Camden, New Jersey, in 1988.
Selected by Christianity Today as one of the country’s 50 Up-and-Coming Leaders Under 40, Main speaks nationally and internationally and has been highlighted on Diane Sawyer’s 20/20 special, “Waiting on the World to Change.” The ministry helps children and young adults with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, spiritual growth, and Christian leadership.

Father Richard Rohr
Located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC) is the home of the Rohr Institute and its Living School for Action and Contemplation. As founder of the CAC and Academic Dean of the Living School, Father Richard Rohr’s teachings provide the basis for educational materials, events, and curriculum that bear witness to the Christian tradition of contemplative practice and compassionate action. Rohr will be speaking to the students via Skype.

Dr. William Hulitt Gloer
The David E. Garland Professor of Preaching and Christian Scriptures, Dr. William Hulitt Gloer, is the 2014 featured speaker for HSU’s Maston Lecture Series. Gloer is a professor at Truett Theological Seminary and holds membership in the Society of Biblical Literature, Catholic Biblical Association, and the National Association of Baptist Professors of Religion.

The Jim and Casper Show
Musical duo and authors of Jim and Casper Go to Church, famously debate Christianity and atheism in the stage show, “Why We Need to Change the Conversion Conversation.” When minister, Jim Henderson, wanted to know what atheists think about church, he recruited non-believer, Matt Casper, and the two visited churches across the country. This spiritual odd couple documents experiences and reactions during the nationwide journey.
HSU chapel events are on Tuesday’s at 9:30 a.m. in Behrens Auditorium.
