(Abilene, Texas) – A short video could win an incoming student a free ride to Hardin-Simmons for their freshman year through the third annual “Lights Camera Free Ride!” video contest.

The first place winner will receive tuition, room, and meals for the 2017-18 academic year, with an estimated value of $33,518. The runner-up winner will receive an on-campus room for the 2017-18 academic year, with an estimated value of up to $3,900.

The remaining top 25 winners will receive a one-time $1,000 scholarship to HSU.

“HSU is a unique and authentic experience,” said Grant Greenwood, director of Admission and Recruiting at HSU. “Those who choose to attend HSU typically feel called to our campus. LCFR is your opportunity to share why you chose HSU out of all of the colleges in the US. Faculty, staff and current students all have a ‘choose HSU’ story. What’s yours?”

To enter the contest, students need to create a 30-to-60 video explaining why they want to attend HSU. In the video, future students will display their talent, creativity, and passion for HSU and show how an HSU education will help them achieve their goals.

Entries in the contest will be accepted through December 31, 2016.  Online voting will take place between January 1 to 31, 2017. The winners will be announced February 18, 2017. Learn more about the contest: https://www.hsutx.edu/lcfr/
