    Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)

    Pursuit of an advanced degree in the field of nursing opens up many avenues for clinical, advanced practice and leadership positions. Our program, offered under the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing, provides opportunities for hands-on learning and training to prepare you for the demands of those career paths.

    Graduate-level tracks include Nursing Education and Family Nurse Practioner. A Post-Masters Certification for Family Nurse Practioners is also available. Coursework is specific to your chosen focus and strives to offer ample opportunity to grow not only professionally, but also mentally and spiritually.



    Upon admittance to Hardin-Simmons University, students desiring to enter the MSN program must apply through the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing (PHSSN). Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for admission:

    • Bachelors of Science in Nursing from a regionally accredited school/university.
    • Minimum one (1) year of clinical nursing practice.
    • Undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
    • Undergraduate nursing course work GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.

    Provisional admission is also available to students who meet one of the two GPA requirements and receive departmental endorsement. A 3.00 minimum GPA must be maintained for the first nine credit hours of coursework to maintain enrollment in the program when under provisional acceptance.
