30 RANGE RIDER | FALL-WINTER 2017 Academic Programs Update The Board of Trustees of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) reviewed the materials for the Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree program being offered at HSU. The Board has approved the program and will include this program in the scope of the current accreditation. SACSCOC has approved the offering of the Master of Science in Information Science degree. The 36 credit hour, 24-month degree program is being offered beginning in the Fall of 2017. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges has also notified HSU that they have acknowledged the changes to the General Education curriculum requirements for baccalaureate degrees which will begin in the fall. Community College Agreements HSU has entered into a new articulation agreement with Blinn College, and per the agreement, more than 100 Blinn courses will transfer toward HSU undergraduate degrees. The agreement began as a partnership between the Hardin-Simmons College of Fine Arts and Blinn’s Division of Visual/Performing Arts and Kinesiology, and now recognizes 78 Blinn art, theatre, or music courses. Note: Students may transfer up to 66 credit hours towards an HSU bachelor’s degree.
