New On-Campus Living Options The northeast side of campus is undergoing a transformation that will give students two exciting new on-campus living options beginning in fall 2018. The University has started construction on two new apartment complexes on the northeast side of campus to help house an increasing number of undergraduate students. Construction for both complexes will take place simultaneously, according to Andrew Briscoe, HSU’s construction manager. A 102-bed complex is planned for Vogel Street, and a second 72-bed complex is planned on Cedar Street. The 102-bed unit will have a mix of one, two, and four bedroom apartments. The apartments will also include washer and dryers in each unit. Estimated to cost $7 million, both complexes are expected to be completed in mid-2018. The timing is perfect for new student housing, according to Holly Edwards, HSU’s Director of Residence Life. “We are excited for the growth happening on campus at HSU,” she said. “Our occupancy is nearing 100 percent this year, and we have more than 700 upperclass students living off campus. These apartment facilities will provide much needed space on our campus to continue to foster vibrant residential living. This is a great time to be a part of the Cowboy family.” The University currently has two apartment complexes on campus for undergraduate students. The University Place Apartments are located on Pine Street. The Wolf Apartments are on Vogel. The new complex is located next to the existing apartments. Access to all the apartments will come from Pine Street. 16
