The HSU Go Green Sustainability Committee is working to begin utilizing our garden space this fall. The major focus is the design for the prayer garden section of the garden. Please check back for periodic updates!
The purpose of the Hardin-Simmons Campus Community Food and Prayer Garden is to create a shared space where students will learn the integrated values of environmental sustainability, social recreation, and civic engagement. The food garden would provide a learning lab for various science and other academic related disciplines. In addition, a prayer garden is proposed in order to provide a place for personal prayer and reflection and would be located adjacent to the food garden. Together, the campus food and prayer garden would provide a place for students to learn principles and practices of sustainable food production along with the integration of this knowledge within a Biblically based concept of stewardship of our God-given resources.
